City of Katy, TX ELECTIONS

The city is hereby divided into two (2) wards known as Ward A and Ward B, each of which wards is described below.

Effective with the first Saturday in April, 1980, the following realigned ward boundaries will be in effect as follows:

Beginning at the most northerly point of intersection of the city limits with the west right-of-way line of Katy-Fort Bend Road, being also the northeast corner of Eastway Terrace, a subdivision in the city according to the map or plat thereof as recorded in Volume 48, Page 66, of the Map Records of Harris County, Texas;

(2)

Thence in a westerly direction along the city limit line to its intersection with the east right-of-way line of Katyland Drive;

(3)

Thence in a westerly direction along the north line of the Motheral First Addition, an addition to the city, according to the map or plat thereof in Volume 25, Page 72, of the Map Records of Harris County, Texas, to a point where it would intersect a southerly extension of the centerline of Airline Drive;

(4)

Thence north along the centerline of Airline Drive to its intersection with the centerline of Franz Road;

(5)

Thence west with the centerline of Franz Road to its intersection with the centerline of Avenue D (Katy-Hockley Road);

(6)

Thence south along the centerline of Avenue D (Katy-Hockley Road) to its intersection with the centerline of Franz Road;

(7)

Thence west along the centerline of Franz Road to its intersection with the west city limit line.

(c)

That portion of the city lying south and west of the above line constitutes Ward A, and that portion of the city lying north and east of the above line constitutes Ward B.

The submission under section 5, Voting Rights Act of 1965, as amended (the “Act”) to the Department of Justice, as maintained on file in the office of the city secretary, is hereby approved as to form and content.

The Spanish Language election procedures, as maintained on file in the office of the city secretary, are hereby approved as to form and content.
