The purpose and objective of this chapter is to recognize the Avondale Fire Company as the duly recognized Volunteer Fire Company for the Borough and to authorize the Fire Company to provide such services to the Borough as may be necessary for the protection of property and person situated therein, which include, by way of example and not of limitation, the extinguishment and prevention of loss of life and property from fire, motor vehicle accident, medical emergencies, hazardous materials incidents and other dangerous situations, and including the following:
A. 
The Fire Company is authorized to actively engage in firefighting, emergency care, first aid and rescue service (collectively referred to herein as "firefighting and EMS activities") within the boundaries of the Borough and to respond to out-of-jurisdiction calls only pursuant to the authorization of a duly authorized mutual aid agreement or an agreement for first-call service approved by the Borough.
B. 
Members of the Fire Company may engage in those acts that are recognized as firefighting and EMS activities, including:
(1) 
The members' act of going to or returning from any fire which the Fire Company of which they are a member shall have attended;
(2) 
The members' participation in firefighting instruction and fire drills which the Fire Company of which they are a member shall have attended;
(3) 
The members' participation in repair and/or other work on fire apparatus, buildings and grounds of the Fire Company or Fire Department, and other similar routine, daily maintenance activities, including additional work as authorized by the Chief of the Fire Company or other individual in charge;
(4) 
The members' performance in responding to any emergency call for any purpose or while riding upon the fire apparatus owned or used by the Fire Company of which they are a member; and
(5) 
Engaging in the performance of any other duty or activity authorized by any officer of the recognized Fire Company.
C. 
Members of the Fire Company are authorized to participate in countywide mutual aid, fire and emergency training schools, area conventions, and civic functions of the kind customarily attended by or participated in by Chester County Volunteer Fire Company personnel or other nearby volunteer fire companies.
D. 
Members of the Fire Company are authorized to assist other nearby fire departments and companies and civil and community organizations in traffic and crowd control during emergencies and civic activities and functions.
A. 
In addition to actively participating in any activities of the Fire Company as authorized above, or going to or returning from any activity, the members of the Fire Company are also authorized to do the following:
(1) 
Engage in any type of drill, training, ceremony or parade when duly called for or authorized by the Fire Chief or his/her designee; and
(2) 
Engage in fund-raising activities for the Fire Company, when authorized by the Fire Chief or his/her designee.
