(a)
License fees for dogs and cats.
License fees for dogs and cats shall be imposed. The fees will be as follows:
(c)
Impoundment fees separate from fines and boarding fees.
Impoundment fees are separate and distinct from any fines imposed for violating any provision of chapter 2 of the Code of Ordinances or any boarding fees.
(d)
Adoption fees.
Adoption fees for the adoption of an animal from the animal shelter are as follows:
(1)
$100.00 for the adoption of a dog, which includes the cost of inoculations, deworming, general health assessment. It also includes a heartworm check, sterilization and rabies vaccination if age appropriate.
(2)
$50.00 for the adoption of a dog that has been previously adopted and returned and the adoption fee has already been paid for. This fee will also be applied to an animal(s) surrendered that have been previously sterilized. This fee will include the cost of inoculations, deworming, general health assessment, heartworm check, and rabies vaccination.
(3)
$25.00 for the adoption of a cat that has been previously sterilized, which includes the cost of inoculations, flea treatment and deworming.
(4)
No adoption fee or rabies vaccination fee is required for an animal transferred to an approved breed-specific rescue organization, or to a nonprofit, no-kill, all-breed rescue organization.
(5)
State law requires a rabies vaccination.
(6)
Adoption fees may be reduced after the 15th day an animal becomes eligible for adoption, with the approval of the City Manager or designee.
(e)
Animal held in quarantine.
$15.00 per day for any animal held in quarantine.
(f)
Veterinary and other expenses.
Any veterinary and other expenses actually incurred by virtue of the necessity of quarantine or impoundment will be paid by the owner.
(g)
Impoundment of livestock.
$35.00 per head per day for the taking up and impounding of livestock.
(h)
Pickup of deceased dog or cat.
$50.00 for animals weighing less than 50 pounds. $75.00 for the pickup of a deceased dog or cat that is in an advance state of decomposition, or exceeds 50 pounds in weight. There will be no additional fees to those stated above for transport by an Animal Control Officer of a deceased dog or cat owned by city residents who have made prior arrangements with a local (not exceeding five miles from the city limits of Azle) veterinarian or pet cemetery for interment or cremation.
(i)
Rabies vaccination.
Fees for rabies vaccination will be based upon the current cost negotiated with local cooperating veterinarians.
(j)
Boarding fee for dogs and cats.
$15.00 for boarding fee per day for each day a dog or cat is housed at the animal shelter. This fee will be charged when the animal is returned to the original owner.
(l)
Kennel permit.
$50.00 for a kennel permit.
(m)
Dangerous dog or vicious animal registration fee.
$50.00 per animal.
(n)
Temporary exhibition permit.
$40.00 for administrative costs and safety inspection of temporary exhibit by the animal control officer.
(o)
Review of fees.
The animal control officers shall review all fees specified herein annually and may recommend increases or changes to the City Council.
