A certain document, three (3) copies of which are on file in the office of the city secretary and the city, marked and designated as the International Mechanical Code, 2024 edition, including all appendix chapters, as published by the International Code Council, Incorporated, is hereby adopted as the mechanical code of the city for regulating and controlling the design, construction, quality of materials, erection, installation, alteration, repair, location, relocation, replacement, addition to and use or maintenance of mechanical systems in the city and providing for the issuance of permits and the collection of fees therefor. Each and all of the regulations, provision, conditions and terms of the International Mechanical Code, 2024 addition, published by the International Code Council, Incorporated, and on file in the office of the city secretary, are hereby referred to, adopted and made a part hereof as if fully set out in this division.

The following sections of the International Mechanical Code, 2024 edition, published by the International Code Council, Incorporated are revised as follows:
Section 101.1. Title. These provisions shall be known as the International Mechanical Code of the city and shall be cited as such and will be referred to as “this code.”
Section 103.2. Appointment. The building official shall be the city manager or chief building official.

Any person engaged in the contracting business in the city shall display, in a permanent way, on his trucks, vans or any other vehicles used in transporting materials and tools to and from any job, the correct name and address of such person (or firm), which display shall be in lettering no smaller than three (3) inches in height, readily visible and clearly legible at all times.

It shall be unlawful for any person to interfere in any manner with any mechanical installation being installed on any premises or in any building during construction. In inspecting the mechanical installation of any building or premises, the mechanical inspector shall leave a tag or notice attached to a mechanical apparatus. This notice shall state clearly whether the installation is approved or is to be kept open for further inspection. No person shall lath, seal or in any manner conceal any mechanical installation until such person has been informed that such installation has been approved by the mechanical inspector. The general contractor or owner shall be held responsible for any violation of this section and shall be liable to the penalties provided herein.
