It shall be unlawful to shoot or discharge an air rifle or air pistol that, by means of compressed air or compressed gas, is capable of discharging shots, pellets or any solid objects that are potentially dangerous to human safety, in such a manner that the shot, pellet or solid object so discharged travels on, along or across any public street, sidewalk, alley or other public property or on, along or across any private property which is not owned or controlled by the person who discharged such air rifle or air pistol. It shall be a defense to anyone charged under this section with shooting such a gun on private property not owned or controlled by him that he had permission of the person who owns or controls such private property.
