(a) 
It shall be unlawful and an offense for any person, firm, or corporation operating a vehicle to park or permit to be parked, or remain standing, any vehicle upon any street, within any parking meter space in the city, as designated in this article, between the hours designated by appropriate signs pursuant to this article, unless the person in charge of said vehicle shall, immediately upon entering said parking space, deposit in the parking meter adjacent to, adjoining or alongside of said parking space appropriate payment of the United States of America, causing such parking meter to display a sign or signal for the period of legal parking within said parking meter zone.
(b) 
It shall be unlawful and an offense for any person to permit a vehicle to be or remain in any parking space adjacent to, alongside of or adjoining which said parking meter is located while said meter is displaying a signal showing that a vehicle has already been parked in said parking space for a longer period of time than the parking limit provided for by this article for said parking meter zone within which said parking meter is located.

The coins deposited in parking meters shall be collected by the duly authorized city agents and shall be deposited by them in the city depository.

(a) 
Parking meter zones are established within the district or upon those streets or parts of streets as designated in the schedule on file in the office of the Traffic Engineering Division in which zones the parking of vehicles upon streets shall be regulated by parking meters between the hours specified by appropriate signs, except on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
(b) 
The Traffic Engineering Division is authorized, subject to the approval of the city council, to establish parking meter zones upon those streets or parts of streets where it is determined upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation that the installation of parking meters shall be necessary to aid in the regulation, control, and inspection of the parking of vehicles.

(a) 
Parking meter zones are established upon those roadways or parts of roadways in and about the municipal airport terminal area upon which the parking of vehicles shall be regulated by parking meters. Such regulation shall be in force all hours of the day and all days of the year, without exception. Rates are established for one-fourth and one-half hour.
(b) 
The Traffic Engineering Division shall install parking meters in the parking meter zones established as provided in this section upon the curb immediately adjacent to each designated parking space.
(c) 
Each parking meter shall be so designated, constructed, installed and set that, upon the expiration of the time period registered by the deposit of one or more coins, as provided in this section, it will indicate by an appropriate signal that the lawful parking meter period has expired and, during such period of time and prior to the expiration thereof, will indicate the interval of time which remains of such period.
(d) 
Each parking meter shall bear thereon a legend indicating the days and hours when the requirement to deposit coins therein shall apply, the value of the coins to be deposited, and the limited period of time for which parking is lawfully permitted in the parking meter zone in which such meter is located.

No person shall deposit or attempt to deposit in any parking meter any slug, button, or any other device or substance as substitutes for coins of United States currency.
