The Mayor with the concurrence of the Council shall appoint an individual who is a competent, duly qualified and licensed attorney practicing law in the State of Texas to be an attorney for the Town, hereinafter referred to as the “Town Attorney”. The Town Attorney shall serve at the discretion of the Council and this individual shall receive for his or her services such compensation as may be fixed by the Council. The Town Attorney shall be the legal adviser of, and attorney for, all of the offices and departments of the Town, and this individual shall represent the Town in all litigation and legal proceedings; provided, that the Council may retain special counsel at any time they deem same appropriate and necessary. The Town Attorney shall review and concur or dissent upon all documents, contracts, and legal instruments in which the Town may have an interest. The Town Attorney shall perform other duties prescribed by this Charter, by Ordinance, or as directed by the Council.
