(a) 
Prohibited.
It shall be unlawful for any person to discharge or fire any shotgun, gun, rifle, pistol or firearm in the corporate limits of the city.
(b) 
Exceptions.
The provisions above shall not apply when such person or such firing of his gun occurs under necessary and lawful protection of one’s person, premises, or property, unless such firing be recklessly or negligently done, or a peace officer firing in the course of his duty.
(c) 
Penalty.
Any person who so discharges or fires such a weapon shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be fined in accordance with the general penalty provided in section 1.01.009 of this code.
