This division is and shall be deemed an exercise of the police power vested by law in the city, for the public safety, comfort, convenience and protection of the city and its citizens, and all of the provisions hereof shall be construed for the accomplishment of that purpose.

Organized event.
An event to be held, staged or conducted on real property owned by the city by a group of two or more persons, which, prior to such event, shall have obtained permission of the city (from the city secretary) for the holding, staging or conducting of the event and, where applicable and required, paid to the city secretary, in advance, all fees and deposits.
Post and posted.
To forbid or restrict access by the public to city-owned properties at specified hours.
Sunrise.
Termination of darkness as officially announced by the U.S. Weather Service for the Central Texas area.
Sunset.
Termination of daylight as officially announced by the U.S. Weather Service for the Central Texas area.

Any person convicted of a violation of this division shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be fined as provided in section 1.01.009 for each separate violation.

(a) 
Posted hours; exceptions.
It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person to enter upon the premises of or to be within the boundaries of the following described city properties (with exceptions noted) between the hours of 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on any day of the week and for any purpose whatsoever:
(1) 
City Park.
(A) 
The city park known as “City Park,” the same being situated between East 4th Street and East 6th Street and between Lamar Avenue and Milam Avenue.
(B) 
Exceptions: None.
(2) 
Wilson-Ledbetter Park.
(A) 
The city park known as “Wilson-Ledbetter Park,” the same being situated at the south city limits adjacent to FM 1600.
(B) 
Exceptions:
(i) 
Boy Scout and Girl Scout huts: Persons belonging to the scouting organizations or to organized events under rental agreement with the scouting organizations, but in no event will use be allowed after 12:00 p.m. for other than organized scouting functions.
(ii) 
American Legion Building: Members of the Edwin Hardy Post, American Legion, or participants in organized events under rental agreement with the American Legion.
(3) 
12th Street Park.
(A) 
The park known as “12th Street Park,” the same being situated at West 12th Street and North Orchard Avenue.
(B) 
Exceptions: None.
(4) 
Cameron Municipal Airpark.
(A) 
The Cameron Municipal Airpark, situated to the east of the east right-of-way line of U.S. Highway 77, and southwest of the most northerly northeast corporate boundary line of the city, and west of the west right-of-way line of County Road 240.
(B) 
Exceptions: The baseball fields are situated on property of the city and are reserved for organized events only. Individual use at any time is prohibited. Organized events for games or practice, registered with the city, will be allowed past the posted time, but in no event will use be allowed after 12:00 p.m.
(5) 
Waterworks pumping station.
The city waterworks pumping station, the same being situated on Little River, at the end of East Gillis Street, also known as Pump House Road, and being that city property east of the wooden bridge on this road. Access is restricted between the hours of thirty (30) minutes past sunset until thirty (30) minutes before sunrise.
(6) 
Oak Hill Cemetery.
Oak Hill Cemetery of the city, the same being situated south of East Gillis Street and east of South Fannin Avenue. Access is restricted between the hours of thirty (30) minutes past sunset until thirty (30) minutes before sunrise.
(b) 
Violations.
The presence of any person upon the posted premises during the posted hours, with exceptions noted, is hereby declared to be illegal and a public nuisance, and, as such, punishable as a misdemeanor offense.
(c) 
Enforcement.
The chief of police of the city, and all police officers of the city, are instructed and directed to suppress and abate any such nuisance by the following procedure: Any person or persons found by them to be on the premises or within the boundaries of city property as herein defined and when it is apparent they do not fall within the exceptions so stated will first be identified and warned of the offense and directed to vacate the premises. The names of all persons so found shall be placed in the log book at the police department, noting the date, time and location of violation. This log will be referenced by the police, and occurrence of a second violation will be cause for the taking into custody of the violator. If the first-time offender fails to vacate the premises after request and warning in a reasonable time, this person or persons may also be taken into custody without the necessity of a second offense.

Glass beverage containers are prohibited and their introduction onto the herein defined city property for any reason by any person or organization is a violation of this division.
