(a)
The fee schedule established by this section for emergency medical services provided by the city shall reflect the ambulance fee schedule published by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS) as applied to the geographic region of the city. The city will utilize the most recently published applicable fee schedule in charging fees for emergency medical services.
(b)
The published CMS fee schedule varies from region to region and is based on several factors, including but not limited to whether an ambulance trip originates in a designated rural or urban zip code; whether the method of travel is by air or ground; the length or mileage of the actual trip; the typical physician fees as applied to the geographic region; and other factors. The fee schedule established by the city will reflect the appropriate CMS fees as applied to the geographic region of the city and the particular details of each case.
