(a)
There is hereby created the police reserved force for the City of Sundown, Texas.
(b)
The maximum number of officers of the police reserve force shall be no more than three as set by the city council. Officers shall be appointed by, and shall serve at the discretion of the city council. Officers shall be appointed, and are subject to removal, on the recommendation of the City of Sundown Chief of Police, concurred in by the city administrator.
(c)
Officers of the police reserve force shall act and serve under the immediate supervision and command of the chief of police, or, in the absence of the chief of police, the next lower ranking officer of the Sundown Police Department.
(d)
No officer of the police reserve force shall perform law enforcement duties unless such officer:
(e)
Officer of the police reserve force shall not be considered to be employees of the City of Sundown, and shall not receive, or be entitled to, any of the benefits, compensation, rights or privilege of employees of the City of Sundown, subject to the foregoing:
(1)
Officers shall be considered to be members of an organized police reserve entitled to the benefits of Texas Government Code, Chapter 615, and
(2)
The city may, but is not required to, provide such compensation, uniform and equipment allowances, reimbursements, and other assistance as it may, from time to time, deem appropriate.
(f)
The chief of police shall define the specific duties of officers of the police reserve force, shall determine their schedules of duty, and exercise all supervision over the police reserve force and all of its officers.
