(a)
The sheriff of Dallas County, Texas is hereby designated as peace officer of the town to preserve the peace and shall hold office at the pleasure of the town council.
(b)
Such peace officers shall have like powers, rights and authority as are said title [sic] vested in town marshals as provided by state law.
