(a) 
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate a motor vehicle with a carrying capacity of more than 26,000 pounds upon any street within the limits of the city except upon the streets designated as truck routes under subsection (b) below.
(b) 
The following streets, roads and highways or parts thereof are designated as truck routes:
(1) 
F.M. 794.
(2) 
U.S. Highway 183.
(3) 
U.S. Highway 90-A Bypass.
(c) 
This article shall not apply to operation of a motor vehicle of more than 26,000 pound carrying capacity to secure fuel, repairs or to deliver, load or unload cargo. The operator of such motor vehicle shall continue on a route along the streets designated as truck routes to a point closest to the delivery or destination point and shall then proceed over streets that are not designated to the point of delivery or destination and after reaching the destination, the operator shall return to the designated streets over the same route. At no time shall trucks be allowed to park along designated truck routes, streets, avenues, alleys or highways in the city which are dedicated to the public or use or a way upon which the public has a prescriptive use except to deliver or unload cargo.

(a) 
Section 12.801 shall not apply to emergency vehicles operating in response to emergency calls or school, church or tourist busses.
(b)
