(a) 
For projects requiring a permit and that impact the plumbing system, plumbing permits must also be obtained from the water service provider.
(b) 
Additional permits may be required for commercial food or beverage services or health care facilities through the Austin/Travis County health department.
(c) 
Before permits of any type will be issued for any construction on an unimproved lot in the city, the applicant shall first apply for and receive an official letter or certificate of approval for either a proposed private sewage system or for connection to public wastewater collection and treatment system. A copy of the new installation certificate (septic system) and “as-built” plans must be presented to the BDS office prior to scheduling an inspection for a certificate of occupancy.

When located on the exterior of a residential structure, tankless water heaters must be recessed into the wall so that the cover is flush with the exterior of the home and the covers must be painted to closely match the color of the exterior materials.

(a) 
Irrigation permits must be obtained directly from the water service utility company, if required by them.
(b) 
Copies of commercial irrigation plans and permits must be submitted to the city along with the landscaping plans.
(c) 
Water from yard irrigation or sprinklers shall not project into any public or private street or sidewalk.
(d) 
Grey water storage and landscape irrigation must be approved by the water utility serving the property and shall be totally isolated from the water utility. Rainwater harvesting can be guided by the Texas Water Development Board publication Texas Manual on Rainwater Harvesting. Grey water systems shall comply with Texas Commission for Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regulations in 30 TAC 210 subchapter F and 30 TAC 285 subchapter F.
