(a) 
The governing body of the town shall henceforth be known as the “town council” instead of the board of aldermen.
(b) 
All official records of the town shall be amended by reference hereto so that the name of the governing body will hereafter read as the “town council” instead of the board of aldermen.

(a) 
The mayor and all councilmembers shall hold office for two-year terms.
(b) 
The terms of office of the mayor and two (2) members of the town council shall expire with the election to be held on the first Saturday in May in odd-numbered years, and the terms of office of the three (3) remaining members of the town council shall expire with the election to be held on the first Saturday in May in even-numbered years.

(a) 
The mayor shall have the authority relative to public improvements or purchases subject to the competitive sealed bidding and competitive sealed proposal requirements of chapter 252 of the Texas Local Government Code, as amended, to approve change orders involving an increase or decrease in the amounts of $25,000.00 or less, without the approval of the town council.
(b) 
The mayor shall have the authority to sign all contracts and agreements not in exceed $15,000 without first obtaining the approval of town council for each such contract or agreement, provided that funds are available for the purpose of said contract or agreement, and further provided that town council approval of said contract or agreement is not otherwise required by law.

(a) 
To be eligible for the office of mayor or town council of the municipality, a person must be a registered voter and must have resided within the municipal limits for at least the 12 months preceding the election day. For purposes of this subsection, residency in an area while the area was not within the municipal limits is considered as residency within the limits if the area is a part of the municipality on election day.
(b) 
No member of the town council may hold or be a candidate for any state, federal, county office, any elected office of any water, special utility district, or any other special district under state law, or any public entity that currently provides services, utilities or otherwise has a contractual relationship to the town.
