An ambulance shall not exceed the speed limit on an emergency
call within the city limits unless the ambulance personnel first notifies
the police department of such emergency call and the driver sounds
an audible signal by bell, siren, or exhaust whistle.

No driver of any authorized emergency vehicle shall assume any
special privilege under the provisions of this article except when
such vehicle is operated in response to an emergency call or in the
immediate pursuit of an actual or suspected violator of the law.
