The words used in this division shall have the following meaning:
Any structure used or intended for supporting or sheltering any use or occupancy.
The number assigned to each commercial space in the building.
A freestanding structure designed and used for functions incidental and accessory to the main use, such as a storage warehouse or separate garage.
Any area designated for private access by motor vehicles.
The number assigned to each living unit in a building. A living unit is designed for one (1) family.
Any building located on a lot or tract of property that is not a detached accessory building.
A number assigned to a building by the inspection division for the city or designated on an approved plat or site plan. The official number, for purposes of this division, is the street address or building number and not necessarily the mailing address. Current numbers that are now being used for existing buildings shall be considered the official number unless a conflict arises. When there is a conflict or there is new construction, the inspection division will assign and release addresses in the following manner:
Description of system.
The plan for numbering the building or property in the city is the Philadelphia system of one hundred (100) for each block with a number determined for every twenty-five (25) feet of front footage, regardless of size or shape of the lot. Cul-de-sacs and dead-end streets, as defined in the subdivision ordinance, may be numbered in single- or double-digit addresses. Any street extended beyond the maximum length of a cul-de-sac will be numbered in one hundred (100) blocks.
Base streets designated.
First Street is the base for all streets running north and south. Grant Avenue and Andrews Highway is the base for all streets running east and west.
Even and odd number sides.
Even numbers will be found on the right side of the street and odd numbers will be found on the left side of the street as you move away from the base street on the respective streets and avenues.
Any area designated for public access by public vehicles, including public streets and alleys.
