(a) 
The following words and terms shall, for the purposes of this article, have the meanings shown herein:
Liquefied petroleum gas (LP gas).
A material which is composed predominantly of the following hydrocarbons or mixtures of them: propane, propylene, butane (normal butane or isobutane) and butylenes.
NFPA.
The National Fire Protection Association, Inc.
Railroad commission standards.
The most current state railroad commission safety rules for liquefied petroleum gas, as amended.
(b) 
The state railroad commission safety rules for liquefied petroleum gas, as amended, are hereby made a part of and incorporated into this article.
(c) 
Applicable provisions of the Standard Gas Code, as amended, as adopted by the International Fuel Gas Code and by the city, are hereby made a part of and incorporated into this article.
(d) 
Applicable provisions of the National Fire Protection Association, Inc. (NFPA) regulations, as amended, are hereby made a part of and incorporated into this article.

It shall be the duty of the chief building official of the city to determine if the provisions of this article are being satisfactorily complied with. Any requirement necessary for the protection of the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the city which is not specifically covered by this article shall be determined by the chief building official and brought before the city council for consideration.

Any person, firm, corporation, or entity who violates any provision of this article shall be deemed guilty of a class C misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be subject to a fine in accordance with the general penalty in section 1.01.009 of this code, and each day such violation continues shall be deemed a separate offense.

(a) 
Liquefied petroleum gas may be used as a source of fuel for domestic, residential, or commercial buildings within the city limits, unless in violation of this article and/or federal, state, or state railroad commission regulations incorporated herein or otherwise applicable.
(b) 
Liquefied petroleum gas may be used as a fuel source within the city limits for self-propelled motor vehicles, provided that such vehicles are licensed in accordance with the liquefied petroleum gas safety rules as promulgated by the state railroad commission, same being contained in Texas Administrative Code, title 16, part 1, chapter 9.

The use, handling, transportation, and storage of any form of manufactured or liquefied petroleum gases and the installation of liquefied petroleum gas equipment pertinent to systems for such uses within the city limits shall be in accordance with the following:
(1) 
The most current edition of the Standard Gas Code, as amended, as adopted by the International Fuel Gas Code and the city;
(2) 
The most current edition of the liquefied petroleum gas safety rules, as amended, as promulgated by the state railroad commission; and
(3) 
Appropriate National Fire Protection Association, Inc. (NFPA) regulations, as amended.
