Landscape requirements are established for the purpose of promoting
the health, safety, morals and general welfare of the city and to
improve traffic and pedestrian safety, property values, business opportunities
and community appearance.

The following general regulations shall be applicable to all
required landscaping. Where a conflict may exist between a general
provision and a specific regulation, the specific regulation shall
have priority over the general provisions.
(1) Landscaping
plans shall contain the minimum following information and should typically
be prepared by a person knowledgeable in plant material usage and
landscaping design.
(A) Plans shall be prepared at a scale of not less than one inch (1')
equals fifty feet (50').
(B) Location, size and species of all trees to be preserved.
(C) Location of all new trees, plants, landscaping material and landscaping
features to be used.
(D) Identify types of trees and plant materials, size at time of planting
and approximate size at maturity.
(E) Layout and description of any irrigation or sprinkler system to be
used to maintain vegetation.
(G) Name of preparer and date.
(2) New
trees shall be a minimum of two to three inches (2" to 3") in caliper
and a minimum of 6' to 8' in height at time of planting.
(3) Shrubbery
shall be a minimum of two feet (2') in height from ground level after
planting, except dwarf varieties that shall be a minimum of one foot
(1') in height from ground level after planting.
(4) Earthen
berms shall have slopes not exceeding 3:1 (three feet horizontal distance
for each foot of rise).
(5) One
tree, new or existing shall be required for each five hundred (500)
square feet of landscaped area or portion thereof.
(6) One
planting bed of plants and shrubbery other than grasses and groundcovers
shall be required for each one thousand (1,000) square feet of landscaped
area or portion thereof.
(7) No
artificial plants or turf shall be permitted for meeting minimum landscape
requirements.
