The following structures shall be equipped, at the expense of the owner or operator, with a key lock box at an accessible location near the main entrance of the structure or at such location approved by the Fire Marshall of Caernarvon Township:
A. 
All new commercial and industrial buildings of larger than 6,000 square feet for which building permits are issued after the effective date of this chapter;
B. 
All existing commercial and industrial buildings within the Township which are served with an automatic fire alarm system or which are equipped with an automatic fire suppression system;
C. 
Exception: any building having on-site, twenty-four-hour security personnel may, upon application, be exempted from the requirements of this section.
All newly constructed structures subject to this section shall have the key lock box installed and operational prior to the issuance of an occupancy permit. All structures in existence on the effective date of this chapter and subject to this chapter shall have 180 days from the effective date of this chapter to have a key lock box installed and operational.
The Fire Marshall shall designate the type of key lock box system to be implemented within the Township and shall have the authority to require all structures to use the designated system.
The owner or operator of a structure required to have a key lock box shall at all times keep a key or keys in the lock box that will allow for complete and unobstructed access to all portions of the structure interior. These keys are to be marked and identified in a manner approved by the Fire Marshall.
A. 
All lock boxes installed pursuant to the terms of this chapter shall also contain specific information, as required by the Fire Marshall, including:
(1) 
Names and phone numbers of contact persons;
(2) 
A plan of the building;
(3) 
Locations of hazardous materials;
(4) 
Material safety data sheets of chemicals and their locations throughout the facility; and
(5) 
Such other information as may be designated by rules and regulations adopted by the Board of Supervisors at the recommendation of the Fire Marshall.
B. 
In the alternative to having the required information within the lock box, such information may be in another accessible designated box located at a convenient and approved location within the structure.
Any person who violates any provision of this chapter shall be guilty of a summary offense and may, upon conviction before a Magisterial District Judge, be fined an amount not to exceed $300 per violation.
All ordinances inconsistent with the provisions of this chapter shall be deemed repealed to the extent of their inconsistency.
