One-way
commercial driveways shall meet the same standards as two-way driveways,
except for width (minimum fifteen (15) feet–desirable twenty
(20) feet–maximum twenty-five (25) feet). Proper signs will
be posted and maintained by the owner. All one-way driveways will
be reviewed for approval by the Transportation Department.
Driveways
shall not be constructed within the curb return of a street intersection.
A minimum distance of thirty (30) feet will be maintained between
the point of a curb cut for a driveway and the point of intersection
of the projected curblines at an intersection.
The
point where the driveway radius is tangent to the street curbline
shall not be less than three (3) feet from the point where the curb
inlet is tangent to the street curb.
The
angle of driveway approach shall be approximately ninety (90) degrees
to the street curbline for all two-way driveways. One-way driveways
and service station driveways shall be thirty (30) to ninety (90)
degrees.
Area
used as a motor vehicle service station or a parking lot adjacent
to public right-of-way shall have a five (5) to eight (8) inch raised
curb along the entire street frontage, except at the driveway and
sidewalk crossings.
Public
parkway shall not be used at any time for parking. The raised curb,
as described above, shall be located a minimum distance of one (1)
foot off the property line on private property. The paved area shall
not go beyond the property line.
All
parts of entrances and exits on street right-of-way shall be confined
within property frontage. Frontage is that portion of the right-of-way
lying between the two (2) most distant possible lines drawn perpendicular
from the centerline of the street to the abutting property.
All
driveway approaches shall be constructed in accordance with City specifications.
The City engineer shall have the authority to alter this requirement.
Application
for circular residential driveway will be approved by the Transportation
Department. As minimum requirement, the property in question must
have minimum frontage of sixty (60) feet. A circular driveway shall
have a minimum inside radius of fifteen (15) feet measured from the
property line. There shall be a continuous sidewalk within the parkway.
Vehicular
access to nonresidential uses shall not be permitted from alleys serving
residential areas.
The Director of Transportation shall have the authority to alter any of the design standards, as described in section 33.70, or to deny issuance of a permit if, in the opinion of the director, said denial is in the interest of public safety.
