The purpose of this article is to establish rules and regulations
for the operation, use and maintenance of streets, sidewalks and other
public areas within the city in order to promote the health, safety
and general welfare of the community, its citizens and others. This
article is adopted under the authority of the general law of the state.
It is to be construed in conjunction with the terms and provisions
of the subdivision ordinance of the city.

For the purposes hereof, the following terms, phrases, words
and their derivations shall have the meanings ascribed to them in
this section:
Driveway.
Any means provided by which vehicles can proceed from a street
to adjacent land.
Engineer.
A person duly authorized to practice professional engineering
and registered by the state for such purpose under applicable laws
of the state.
Street.
A public right-of-way intended to provide access to tracts
of land or lots for pedestrian or vehicular traffic.
Street name.
The name given to a street by designation on the official
map of the city, on a plat establishing such street or position thereof,
or as from time to time provided by ordinance of the city.

(a) Major street.
Major streets in the city are hereby declared
to be Pioneer Parkway (Spur 303), Bowen Road and Arkansas Lane.
(b) Collector streets.
Collector streets in the city are
hereby declared to be Roosevelt Drive, Spanish Trail, California Lane,
Pleasant Ridge Road and Sunset Lane, as the same exist or may hereafter
be extended through the city.
(c) Minor streets.
Minor streets are all streets not declared
to be major streets or collector streets by this article or any amendments
hereto, except for alleys.

The standards for streets and other public ways shall be as
provided in the subdivision ordinance of the city and in the Standard
Specifications for Public Works Construction, North Central Texas,
published by the North Central Texas Council of Governments, as adopted
or amended from time to time by the city.
