Sand.
Use clean durable sand that conforms with the following:
1.
Deleterious Materials.
(a)
Clay lumps, ASTM C-142; less than 0.5 percent (0.5%).
(b)
Lightweight pieces, ASTM C-123; less than five percent (5.0%).
(c)
Organic impurities, ASTM C-40; shall not show a color darker than the standard color.
(d)
Other deleterious materials such as coal, shale, coated grains of soft flaky particles; less than two percent (2.0%).
2.
Plasticity index shall be four (4) or less when tested in accordance with ASTM D-43 and ASTM D-424.

Portland Cement.
Furnish Portland cement that conforms with ASTM C-150, Type 1.
C.
Water.
Water shall be reasonably clean and free from injurious amounts of oil, acid, alkalies, salt, organic matter, or other deleterious material. Water shall meet the approval of the City of Magnolia, Engineer or the designated representative of the Engineer.
