For the purpose of regulating traffic on the streets, alleys, and thoroughfares of the city, there is hereby adopted the State Uniform Act Regulating Traffic on Highways, codified as article 6701d, Vernon’s Annotated Civil Statutes, and all other state motor vehicle laws, which act and laws, together with the provisions contained in this chapter, shall be controlling in the regulation of traffic in the city. A violation of the act or any state motor vehicle law for which the municipal court has jurisdiction shall constitute a misdemeanor against the city.

The following bridges are restricted to their posted axle or tandem weight limits of 15,000 pounds:
(1) 
On the north side of W. Howell, east of Elm Creek and on the south side of W. Howell, west of Elm Creek.
(2) 
On the north side of W. Williams, east of Elm Creek and on the south side of W. Williams, west of Elm Creek.

(a) 
Driving motor vehicle without muffler unlawful.
No automobile or motor vehicle shall be driven or operated upon the public square, any street or drive way, within the corporate limits of the city, without such motor vehicle being equipped with a muffler to which all exhaust pipes carrying exhaust gas from the engine shall be directly connected; and such automobiles or motor vehicles as are equipped with devices known as “muffler cut-outs” shall not be operated or driven within the corporate limits of the city, with such muffler cut-out open, or with such exhaust pipe disconnected form the muffler.
(b) 
Penalty for violations.
Any person violating any of the provisions of subsection (a) of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine not exceeding two hundred dollars ($200.00).
