The building official is hereby authorized to issue special permits for the use of knob-and-tube wiring in temporary installations such as installations required for building operations, decorations and display; provided, however, that such permits shall state the duration thereof therein.
(b)
Upon the expiration of a temporary permit, the holder thereof shall immediately discontinue the use of the installation and shall replace the installation with an installation complying with applicable provisions of this code, state law, or city ordinances.
(1967 Code, sec. 33-139; 2008 Code, sec. 82-377)
(a)
Generally.
Means shall be provided outside of the building to disconnect all conductors in a building or other structure from the service-entrance conductors. Each service disconnecting means shall be permanently marked to identify it as a service disconnecting means and shall be of the type that is suitable for use as service equipment. Each service disconnecting means shall be suitable for the prevailing conditions.
(b)
Location.
The service disconnecting means shall be installed outside of a building or other structure at a readily accessible location nearest to the point of entrance of the service entrance conductors. In addition to the service disconnecting means provided for either by the National Electrical Code or by ordinance, a service disconnecting means shall be installed for refrigerated air units, when such units are utilized, at the electrical service entrance, when the refrigerated air unit is not within sight of the electrical service entrance. Such disconnecting means at the service entrance shall not be required where the wiring for the refrigerated air unit comes from a main panel or from a main disconnecting means at the service entrance.
(c)
Manner of operation.
The disconnecting means for ungrounded conductors shall consist of either:
(1)
A manually operable switch or circuit breaker equipped with a handle or other suitable operating means; or
(2)
A power-operated switch or circuit breaker, provided the switch or circuit breaker can be opened by hand in the event of a power supply failure.
(1967 Code, sec. 33-140; 2008 Code, sec. 82-378)
There shall be no more than six current-carrying receptacles coming off the load side of a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) receptacle. All receptacles must be located in the same room or on the other side of a common wall of that room.
(1967 Code, sec. 33-141; Ordinance 1046, sec. 3, adopted 7/7/08; Ordinance 1123, sec. 3(3), adopted 10/20/14; 2008 Code, sec. 82-379)
