Owners are responsible for having their cats and dogs vaccinated against rabies in accordance with title 25, section 169 of the Texas Administrative Code. Owners shall maintain written documentation of rabies vaccination for cats. The city recommends that cats wear “breakaway” collars with rabies tags attached. Rabies tags shall be attached to all dogs’ collars. Any dog which does not bear a current rabies tag shall be presumed to have not been vaccinated as required by this article.

The animal control authority or city administrator is authorized to order the confinement/quarantine of animals responsible for bite incidents or infected with any zoonotic disease considered hazardous to humans or other animals. Confinement and quarantine shall be done in accordance with Texas Administrative Code, section 169.27, as amended.
