(a) 
Persons other than peace officers are hereby barred from carrying or possessing firearms and concealed weapons on city-owned premises, including city-owned buildings, but excluding city-owned streets, sidewalks, or parking lots or parking areas to the extent allowed by law.
(b) 
The city administrator, or his designee, shall post appropriate signage and provide such other notice, in accordance with V.T.C.A., Penal Code section 30.05 (The Criminal Trespass Law) and Penal Code section 30.06, to carry out the intent of this section.
(c) 
The city administrator and chief of police shall take all steps reasonable and necessary to deny entry or continued presence on city-owned premises to all persons, other than peace officers, possessing concealed weapons, including prosecution of such violators for the offense of criminal trespass to the extent allowed by law.

The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this division, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:
Compound-bow.
A bow that uses pulleys and cables to assist with the drawing and releasing of the bowstring.
Crossbow.
A bow for shooting arrows that consists chiefly of a short bow mounted crosswise near the end of a stock.
Hunt.
To seek or pursue with intent to take or kill and includes take, kill, and any attempt to take or kill.
Long-bow.
A bow for shooting arrows that consists of a long, slightly curved piece of wood.
Weapon.
Any firearm, handgun, rifle, shotgun, machine gun, pellet gun, crossbow, compound-bow, long-bow, or any other device which is designed, made or adapted to expel a projectile through a barrel by using the energy generated by an explosive charge, cartridge, compressed air or other gases or mechanical device.

This division shall not apply to:
(1) 
Any conduct that is made an offense under the Texas Penal Code.
(2) 
Acts of defense of persons and property on premises under one’s control as are lawful under the Penal Code of the state.
(3) 
Certified state peace officers in the performance of their official duties.
(4) 
Pistol matches in a fully enclosed pistol range which receive advanced specific approval from the city council.
(5) 
Live trapping of animals which does not result in the injury or death of the animal.
(6) 
The use of a long-bow on an individual’s property where the arrow does not cross the property line of the location the long-bow is fired.

Any person who violates any provision of this division shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in a sum not to exceed $500.00 for each violation thereof.
