The Township Committee may appoint a Deputy Township Clerk, who shall serve a term of one year, commencing on January 1 of the year in which appointed. The Deputy Township Clerk shall receive such compensation as shall be provided in the annual Salary Ordinance.
The Deputy Township Clerk shall assist the Township Clerk in the performance of his duties in such manner and to such extent as shall be directed by the Township Clerk with the prior consent of the Township Committee. During such periods as the Township Clerk is, with the consent of the Township Committee, absent from his duties, the Deputy Township Clerk, with the prior consent of the Township Committee, shall exercise all the powers and perform the duties of the Township Clerk.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent with the provisions of this article are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistencies.
In the event that any clause, sentence, section or other part of this article is declared to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remainder of the ordinance.
