City of Las Vegas, NM Chapter 15 Elections

§ 15-1 Municipal officers to be elected at the regular local election.

Pursuant to Subsection B of § 1-22-3.1 NMSA 1978, the City of Las Vegas opts in to the election of its municipal officers in the November regular local election.

§ 15-2 Adjustment of terms to correspond with new election date.

Option 2: Extended term. To begin with the regular local election held in November 2025, the terms of office for the current municipal office holders shall be adjusted, so that:

A. Municipal officers elected or appointed to a term ending in 2024 shall serve until December 31, 2025, the new term of the position shall be elected at the regular local election in November 2025, and the new term shall commence January 1, 2026; and

B. Municipal officers elected or appointed to a term ending in 2026 shall serve until December 31, 2027, the new term of the position shall be elected at the regular local election in November 2027, and the new term shall commence January l, 2028.
