(a) 
The 2021 edition of the International Fire Code (IFC), as amended and published by the International Code Council, is hereby adopted in its entirety and maintained on file in the office of the city secretary and is fully incorporated by reference as though copied into this article in its entirety.
(b) 
The city does hereby adopt amendments to the International Fire Code, 2021 edition, a copy of which is attached to Ordinance 618-23 as exhibit A and fully incorporated herein by reference. A copy of the adopted amendments shall be kept on file in the office of the city secretary.

Any person, firm or corporation who violates, disobeys, omits, neglects or refuses to comply with or who resists the enforcement of any of the provisions of this article shall be fined not more than two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) for all violations involving zoning, fire safety or public health and sanitation, including dumping of refuse, and shall be fined not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) for all other violations of this article. Each day that a violation is permitted to exist shall constitute a separate offense.

Wherever the words “chief” or “chief of the bureau of fire prevention” are used in the fire code, they shall be held to mean the fire marshal.

The duties of the bureau of fire prevention and fire marshal shall be governed by the provisions of the fire code and article 5.02 of the Code of Ordinances, pertaining to the office of fire marshal.

Whenever in the fire code there is a requirement for obtaining a permit, such permit shall be issued and governed by the appropriate city ordinance which is in force at that time. In the event there is no ordinance covering the circumstances for which the provisions of the fire code require a permit, an application for permit shall be made in writing to the fire marshal, on a form and in a manner prescribed by the fire marshal. The fire marshal shall submit the application for permit to the city council, who shall render a decision either approving or disapproving the permit.

No section of the fire code shall be deleted, modified or amended without cause showing that said amendment would be in the best interests of public safety and fire prevention.
