(a) Prohibition; exceptions.
It shall be unlawful to discharge
a firearm within the corporate limits of the city except in a regularly
established shooting gallery or range, or in an organized activity
for hunting that has been approved by the city council; provided this
section shall not be construed to prohibit any officer of the law
from discharging a firearm in the performance of the officer’s
duty, nor to prohibit any citizen from discharging a firearm when
lawfully defending person or property.
(b) Definition.
A firearm is defined as an device that expels
a projectile through a barrel from energy created by an explosion,
burning substance, compressed air or a spring.
