(a) Election to participate.
On behalf of the city, the
city council hereby exercises its option and elects to have the city
and all of the employees of all departments participate in the Texas
Municipal Retirement System as provided in V.T.C.A., Government Code,
chapter 851 et seq., and all of the benefits and obligations of such
system are hereby accepted as to such employees.
(b) Notice of election.
The mayor is hereby directed to
notify the board of trustees of the Texas Municipal Retirement System
that the city has elected to participate in and to have the employees
of the city participate in such system.
(c) Inclusion of employees.
Each person who becomes an employee
of any participating department of this city on or after the effective
date of participation of such department shall be included within
and subject to the provisions of the Texas Municipal Retirement System
beginning sixty (60) days from and after the date such person becomes
an “employee” as defined in subsection 14, section II
of such system.
(d) Additions to or discontinuance of coverage.
The city
may in the future refuse to add new departments or new employees to
such system, but shall never discontinue as to any participants.
(e) Provisions on file.
Specific provisions of the TMRS
as adopted by the city are maintained on file in the office of the
city secretary.
