Pedestrians shall be subject to traffic-control signals at intersections
as provided in this chapter, but at all other places pedestrians shall
be accorded privileges and shall be subject to the restrictions stated
in this article.
(1975 Code, sec. 30-361; 2004 Code,
sec. 12.801)
(a) When traffic-control signals are not in place or not in operation,
the driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way, slowing down
or stopping if necessary, to yield to a pedestrian crossing the roadway
within a crosswalk when the pedestrian is upon the half of the roadway
upon which the vehicle is traveling or when the pedestrian is approaching
so closely from the opposite half of the roadway as to be in danger.
(b) No pedestrian shall suddenly leave a curb or other place of safety
and walk or run into the path of a vehicle which is so close that
it is impossible for the driver to yield.
(c) Whenever any vehicle is stopped at a marked crosswalk or at any unmarked
crosswalk at an intersection to permit a pedestrian to cross the roadway,
no driver of another vehicle approaching from the rear shall overtake
and pass such vehicle.
(1975 Code, sec. 30-362; 2004 Code,

or overhead pedestrian crossing is provided shall yield the right-of-way
to all vehicles in the roadway.
(1975 Code, sec. 30-363; 2004 Code,
sec. 12.803)
Where sidewalks are provided, no pedestrian shall walk along

which may be approaching from the opposite direction.
(1975 Code, sec. 30-365; 2004 Code,
sec. 12.805)

or crosswalk.
(c) Pedestrians shall, while waiting on a sidewalk, stand either near
the curb or away from the curb so as not to interfere with other pedestrians.
(1975 Code, sec. 30-366; 2004 Code,

(1975 Code, sec. 30-367; 2004 Code,
sec. 12.807)
Notwithstanding the provisions of this article, every driver
