The city council hereby adopts the 2021 edition of the International Residential Code, except as modified or amended in this article. In the event that this code is ever updated or revised, those changes are automatically included and incorporated into this section once the changes have been approved by the North Central Texas Council of Governments. Copies of the code and amendments thereto, as referenced herein, are on file in the office of the city secretary for permanent record and inspection. The code establishes the rules and regulations for construction, alteration, removal, demolition, equipment, use, and occupancy, location and maintenance of one- and two-family residential dwellings and townhouses. From the date on which this section shall take effect, the provisions thereof shall be controlling in the construction of all one- and two-family residential dwellings and townhouses within the corporate limits of the city.

The city council hereby adopts the North Central Texas Council of Government's recommended amendments to the 2021 International Residential Code, which are attached to Ordinance 2022-10 as exhibit B and incorporated herein for all purposes.
