(a)
Created.
A department is hereby created within the framework of the governmental organization of the city, which shall be known as the parks, recreation, and cemeteries department, and it shall function according to the laws of the state, the council of the city, and the provisions of this code.
(b)
Supervisor.
(1)
Position created.
The position of supervisor of parks, recreation, and cemeteries is hereby created. Said supervisor shall be appointed by the city manager, with the advice and consent of the city council, and shall serve in the capacity of a city employee under the same terms and conditions as other city employees as provided in this Code of Ordinances. The position of supervisor may be held by a city employee who is also a department head for another department, and it shall be permissible for such supervisor to serve in such dual capacities.
(2)
Compensation.
The salary of the supervisor shall be determined by the city manager, with the advice and consent of the city council.
(3)
Duties.
The supervisor of parks, recreation, and cemeteries shall be responsible for general oversight and maintenance of all parks, recreation areas, and cemeteries within the jurisdiction of the city.
