(a)
Customers must give written or verbal consent to close their account for proration.
(b)
The city shall prorate the minimum monthly charge for the days of service used from the day of the previous meter reading to the reading at the requested close date for the water and sewer billing, based on a 30 or 31 day monthly billing cycle and depending upon the rate structure of the customer's account (rate code).
(c)
Example using a residential 3/4 meter (Rate Code 1):
(1)
Water:
First 2,000 gallons @ 3.25 per 1000 = 6.50 where 19.25-6.50 = 12.75, 12.25/30 days = .43 per day, then add water charge by schedule of water rates per usage.
(2)
Sewer:
First 2,000 gallons @ 3.50 per 1000 = 7.00 where 13.25-7.00 = 6.25, 6.25/30 days = .21 per day, then add sewer charge by schedule of sewer rates per usage.
