There is hereby adopted by reference the International Fuel Gas Code, 2018 edition, published by the International Code Council, Inc., which code is in full force and effect in the city as if set out fully in this article. A copy of the code shall remain on file in the office of the city secretary.

The city gas inspector shall furnish to the gas company a copy of each certificate of inspection. It shall be unlawful for the gas company to turn gas into any new or altered or repaired system of gas piping until such certificate has been received, but when the gas inspector has certified to the inspection provided for in this section, no further inspection by the gas company shall be required.

Every person learning of a leak or defect in any gas piping or appliance shall forthwith report all facts in connection therewith in writing to the city gas inspector. The city gas inspector shall thereupon inspect all gas equipment at the location named in such report, and if he finds leaks or defects he may order the gas company to turn off the gas, and it shall be unlawful thereafter for the gas company to turn the gas on again until the gas inspector has certified that such leak or defect has been repaired or removed.

No one except the gas company owning or supplying gas through the service line shall at any time turn any valve or cock or in any way tamper or make any connection with any gas main, meter, meter connection or gas service pipe between the main and meter.

The permit and inspection fees provided in this section shall be paid to the city before the issuance of a permit and before any work is started. The fees shall be as follows:

For issuing each permit: $15.00.
(2) 
Wall heater: $3.00.
(3) 
Vent heater: $3.00.
(4) 
Dryer: $3.00.
(5) 
Hot water heater: $3.00.
(6) 
Oven: $3.00.
(7) 
Central heating: $3.00.
(8) 
For each gas piping system, per outlet: $3.00.
(9) 
For each trailer and mobile home hook-up: $7.50.
(10) 
For any other item not enumerated above: $3.00.

For reinspection: $10.00.
