(a) There
is established hereby the city municipal court technology fund. Such
fund shall receive moneys from costs of court assessed and collected
by the city municipal court from each defendant convicted of a misdemeanor
in said court.
(b) There
is established hereby a cost item to be assessed by the municipal
court clerk in the amount of four dollars ($4.00) in each case in
which a conviction is entered against a defendant as defined by article
102.0172(b), Texas Code of Criminal Procedure.
(c) Funds
collected by the municipal court pursuant to this section shall be
deposited with the city treasurer for deposit into the municipal court
technology fund. Moneys in such fund, at the direction of the city
council, may be used only to finance the purchase of technological
enhancements for the municipal court as authorized by article 102.0172(d),
Texas Code of Criminal Procedure.

Such fund shall receive moneys from costs of court assessed and collected
by the city municipal court from each defendant convicted of a misdemeanor
in said court.
(b) There
is established hereby a cost item to be assessed by the municipal
court clerk in the amount of three dollars ($3.00) in each case in
which a conviction is entered against a defendant as defined by article
102.017, Texas Code of Criminal Procedure.
(c) Funds
collected by the municipal court pursuant to this section shall be
deposited with the city treasurer for deposit into the municipal court
building security fund. Moneys in such fund, at the direction of the
city council, may be used only to fund security personnel, services,
and other items related to the building and operations of the municipal
court, as authorized by article 102.017, Texas Code of Criminal Procedure.
(d) Previous
collection of these funds by the municipal court of the city pursuant
to the stated statutory provision and placed into this fund is hereby
ratified and approved by the city council. This section shall have
no expiration date and shall continue indefinitely in full force and
effect unless amended or repealed by operation of law.
