(a) 
Regulated truck ban.
(1) 
Applicability.
A regulated truck is any vehicle over 20,000 pounds gross vehicle weight the principle use of which is the transportation of commodities, merchandise, produce, freight, animals, or passengers for hire and shall include trucks with dual axles and semi-trucks with and without trailers. A regulated truck shall exclude school busses, emergency vehicles, duly franchises solid waste disposal and recycling vehicles, public transit vehicles and recreational vehicles (RVs). All regulated trucks are prohibited from all city streets and alleys except upon the designated truck routes set forth below and accept that such vehicles may be operated on other streets and alleys only for the purpose of pick-up and delivery of materials and then only by entering such street at the intersection nearest the destination of the vehicle and proceeding thereon no further than the next intersection thereafter.
(2) 
Truck routes designated.
The following street(s) or route(s) are hereby designated as the exclusive truck routes in the city:
(A) 
Hwy 135 North;
(B) 
Hwy 135 South;
(C) 
Hwy 850 East;
(D) 
Hwy 850 West;
(E) 
Hwy 323;
(F) 
FM 3053.
(b) 
Restricted passage for regulated trucks.
The city, in the efforts to ensure the welfare of its citizens, restricts the passage of regulated trucks on streets within the city unless for the exceptions stated in subsection (a) of this section. The following street(s) are hereby designated as restricted passage for regulated trucks:
Commerce Street.
North Street, between the intersection of FM 3053 and east to the intersection of Highway 135 (Commerce Street).
West North Street to Motley (Highway 135).
When signs are erected giving notice thereof, no person shall disobey the restrictions stated on such signs.
(c) 
Penalty.
Any person who violates any provision of this section may be punishable by a fine of up to the maximum amount as allowed by law. Each day during which a violation continues shall be a separate offense.
