Bridge.
As used herein means a structure being part of the street that spans and provides passage over a waterway, railroad or other obstacle. The term shall include culverts running under the street where such are serving the function of a bridge by providing for passage over a creek or stream.
Loitering or Loiter.
As used herein means to stand idly about or linger on the bridge longer than is reasonably necessary to pass or travel across the bridge.

It shall be unlawful for any person to:
(1) 
park or stand a vehicle on a bridge located on a public street in the City of Teague;
(2) 
fish from a bridge located on a public street in the City of Teague;
(3) 
dive or enter the water or creek/stream bed from a bridge located on a public street in the City of Teague; or
(4) 
loiter upon a bridge located on a public street in the City of Teague.

Unlawful conduct as set out above in Section 8.602 of this article constitutes an offense punishable as a Class C misdemeanor by a fine in accordance with the general penalty provision in Section 1.109 of this code. Each incident of unlawful conduct constitutes a new offense.

The chief of police in coordination with the city administrator is directed to post notice of the prohibitions of this article at both ends of bridges, however, the absence of such signs shall not constitute a defense to prosecution or conviction hereunder, notice of this article having been given by publication.

This Ordinance does not apply to:
(1) 
situations where prohibited activities from or on the bridge are conducted to assist or aid in the rescue of a person or rendering emergency assistance to another person;
(2) 
authorized persons or contractors performing repairs or maintenance on or about the bridge;
(3) 
the approved use of equipment from a bridge to retrieve a vehicle that has gone off the bridge or into an underlying area as long as such does not damage the bridge or exceed its applicable weight limit;
(4) 
loitering on or fishing from a bridge containing a railed sidewalk separated from the traveled portion of the street; or
(5) 
loitering on or fishing from a bridge as part of a city sanctioned special event that involves city imposed restriction of vehicular traffic on or along the bridge during the special event.
