Alarm systems.
A device or devices designed, silent or audible, to signal, silent or audible. These systems include intrusion alarms, fire alarms, or other alarms which require a response by fire and/or police personnel.
False alarm.
The activation, whether intentionally or accidentally, of an alarm system requiring a response by fire and/or police personnel where there is no immediate threat to life, safety, or property in, on, or about the property from which the alarm signal originated. A false alarm does not include acts of God (tornadoes, earthquakes, lightning, etc.).
Unknown alarm.
Activation of an alarm system that cannot be determined by responding emergency personnel.

(a) 
It is hereby established that a false or unknown alarm response warning [will be sent by the city] and/or fee will be sent to the city. The fee assessed will be due and payable to the city in accordance with this article.
(1) 
For the first false or unknown alarm the user/company/agent will receive a warning letter.
(2) 
For the second false or unknown alarm the user/company/agent will receive a warning letter and a warning citation.
(3) 
For the third false or unknown alarm the user/company/agent will be assessed a fine of fifty dollars ($50.00).
(4) 
For every false or unknown alarm thereafter during the calendar year the user/company/agent will be assessed a fifty-dollar ($50.00) fine.
(b) 
If the alarm user fails to pay an alarm response fee received under this article for a false or unknown alarm within thirty (30) days, the cost may be reflected and assessed against the property serviced by the alarm system and collected in the same manner as real property taxes.
