A.
There shall be a Borough Attorney, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-139 et seq., who shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council for a term of one year from January 1 to December 31. Filling a vacancy shall be for the remainder of the unexpired term. The Borough Attorney shall be admitted to practice law in the State of New Jersey but need not be a resident of the Borough. The Borough Attorney shall be authorized to utilize lawyers and employees of the Borough Attorney's law firm in the performance of the duties of the office of Borough Attorney.
B.
The Borough Attorney or the Borough Attorney's law firm shall be paid such retainer, fees, and compensation for services rendered as may be agreed upon and authorized by the Mayor and Borough Council. Said retainer, fees, and compensation shall be paid upon submission of a claim in accordance with the Borough's policies and procedures for payment of claims.
