A customer requesting a meter to be reread will be charged a
fee as provided for in the fee schedule in appendix A of this code
unless the customer has not requested a reread in the previous 12
months. If, after reading the meter, it is found that the meter was
misread, the customer will not be charged the above-mentioned fee.
(2001 Code, sec. 13.1001)
All customers with residential utility accounts for property
outside of the city limits are required to provide meter readings
to the city on a monthly basis. If no reading is provided, the city
will estimate the consumption. If the readings for an account have
been estimated for two consecutive months, on the third month a fee
as provided for in the fee schedule in appendix A of this code will
be charged to the account.
(2001 Code, sec. 13.1002)
A customer can request that the city test their electric or
water meter. The city will then replace the meter and submit it for
testing. If the meter proves to be malfunctioning in a manner that
causes the customer to be overcharged for utilities, the customer
will not be charged the required fee as provided for in the fee schedule
found in appendix A of this code.
(2001 Code, sec. 13.1003)
If the city is not able to obtain accurate meter readings due
to a faulty meter or any other reason, the city will estimate the
usage for billing purposes.
