Each and every person, owner, manager or keeper of every show
or company of persons giving exhibition of music, songs, recitations,
performances, gymnastics, dancing or any other similar performances
in a tent or house or in the open, for profit by sale of articles
of any kind, whether or not a charge is made for seats or collections
are taken up, shall be granted a license upon paying the license fee
on file in the city secretary’s office before engaging in such
calling or giving such performances.
