There is hereby created the office of the electrical inspector of the city, within which may be assistant electrical inspectors.

The electrical inspector and his assistants shall be competent persons of good moral character, each shall have had at least four (4) years’ experience as a journeyman electrician, and each shall have adequate knowledge of current and approved methods and practices relating to electrical installations.

The electrical inspector and the assistant electrical inspectors shall be appointed by the mayor with the approval of the city council.

The compensation of the electrical inspector and his assistants shall be fixed by the city council.

(a) 
Right of entry.
The electrical inspector shall, when in the performance of his duties, and as far as may be necessary for the performance of his duties, have the right to enter any consumer’s premises at all reasonable hours for the purpose of making tests or inspections of the electrical wiring, appliances or equipment contained therein.
(b) 
Badge.
When on duty, the electrical inspector shall wear a badge furnished by the city to indicate his identity.

(a) 
Records.
The electrical inspector shall keep, or cause to be kept, a written record of all of the following which are required to be issued or performed under the provisions of this article:
(1) 
Permits;
(2) 
Licenses;
(3) 
Inspections;
(4) 
Condemnations;
(5) 
Disconnections of electrical installations resulting from condemnations.
(b) 
Deposit of money received.
All fees and payments received by the office of the electrical inspector will be deposited daily with the city secretary and deposited to the account of the general fund.
