That certain documents, three (3) copies of which are on file
in the office of the building inspector, and the city, being marked
and designated as the International Fire Code, 2015 edition, as published
by the International Code Council, be and is hereby adopted as the
fire code of the city, for regulating and governing the safeguarding
of life and property from fire and explosion hazards arising from
the storage, handling and use of hazardous substances, materials and
devices, and from conditions hazardous to life or property in the
occupancy of buildings and premises in the city and providing for
the issuance of permits for hazardous uses or operations; and each
and all of the regulations, provisions, conditions and terms of such
International Fire Code, 2015 edition, published by the International
Code Council, on file in the office of the building inspector, are
hereby referred to, adopted and made a part hereof as if fully set
out in this article.

That the following sections are hereby revised:
Section 101.1 Insert: City of Slaton,
Texas.

Section 109.4 Insert: Misdemeanor offense,
punishable by a fine of not more than two thousand dollars ($2,000.00)
or by imprisonment not exceeding 30 days, or both such fine and imprisonment.

Section 111.4 Insert: Fine of not less
than two hundred dollars $200.00 or more than two thousand dollars
$2,000.00.

The geographic limits referred to in certain sections of the
2012 International Fire Code are hereby established as follows:
Section 5704.2.9.6.1 and Section 5706.2.4.4 Insert: Geographic limits in which the storage of class I and class
II liquids in aboveground tanks outside of building is prohibited
outside the City of Slaton, Texas zoning area of industrial I or greater
areas, and shall be prohibited in all other zoning areas.

Section 6104.2 Insert: Geographic limits
in which the storage of liquefied petroleum gas is restricted for
the protection of heavily populated or congested areas and placed
within the City of Slaton, Texas zoning area of industrial I or greater
areas.

(a) Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of the code hereby adopted or fail to comply therewith, or who shall violate or fail to comply with any order made thereunder, or who shall build in violation of any detailed statement of specifications or plans submitted and approved thereunder, or any certificate or permit issued thereunder, and from which no appeal has been taken, or who shall fail to comply with such an order as affirmed or modified by the city commission or by a court of competent jurisdiction, within the time fixed, shall severally for each such violation and noncompliance, respectively, be guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine as provided in section
1.01.009. The imposition of one penalty for any violation shall not excuse the violation or permit it to continue; and all such persons shall be required to correct or remedy such violations or defects within a reasonable time; and when not otherwise specified, each ten (10) days that prohibited conditions are maintained shall constitute a separate offense.
(b) The
application of the above penalty shall not be held to prevent the
enforced removal of prohibited conditions.
