All the inhabitants of the City of Slaton, in Lubbock County, Texas, as the boundaries and limits of said city are herein established, or may hereafter be established, shall be a body politic, incorporated under and to be known by the name and style of the “City of Slaton” with such powers, rights and duties as are herein provided.
The boundary and limits of said corporation shall be as follows:
Beginning at the southwest corner of Survey No. 44, in Block S;
Thence west 640 feet to a point in the south boundary line of Survey No. 47, same block;
Thence south 3,000 feet to the southwest corner of the northwest quarter of Survey No. 20, in Block No. 24;
Thence east 7,920 feet to the southwest corner of the northwest quarter of Survey No. 19 in Block No. 24;
Thence north 2,009–2-10 [2,009.2] feet, being 30 feet north of the northeast corner of Lot No. 1, in Block No. 52, in the South Park Addition to the Town of Slaton, Texas;
Thence east on the south boundary line of Geneva Street 2,640 feet to the west boundary line of Survey No. 18 in Block No. 24;
Thence north on Avenue F 612 feet to an iron stake for corner;
Thence east along the south boundary line of Block No. 117 in the South Slaton Addition to Slaton, Texas, a distance of 320 feet, to the east line of said block;
Thence north 2,400 feet to stake for corner;
Thence in a northwesterly direction approximately 6,200 feet to an iron stake in the south boundary line of Survey No. 43, Block “S,” 300 feet north of the northwest corner of Lot No. 50 in the extension of Block “A” of the Original Town of Slaton, Texas;
Thence south 400 feet to the southwest corner of Lot No. 50 in the extension of Block “A” of the Original Town of Slaton, Texas;
Thence in a southeasterly direction along the south boundary line of the extension to Block “A” of the Original Town of Slaton, Texas, 1,000 feet to the southwest corner of Lot No. 30 in Block “A;”
Thence south 34° 32' west 2,090 feet to a monument;
Thence north 55° 33' west 3,192 feet to the west line of Survey No. 44, Block “S”;
Thence south 4,572 feet to a stone, being the southwest corner of Survey No. 44, Block “S,” the point of beginning.
Should any property lying within or adjacent to the city limits, as established by this charter, be hereafter platted into blocks and lots, the owners of said property shall plat and lay the same off to conform to the streets and alleys abutting on same, and shall file with the mayor a correct map thereof. In no case shall the City of Slaton be required to pay for any of said streets or alleys, at whatever date opened, but when opened by reason of the platting of said property, at whatever date platted, they shall become, by such act, the property of the City of Slaton, for use as public highways.
The limits of said corporation may be hereinafter extended by adding additional territory to the same whenever the majority of qualified electors of said territory shall indicate a desire to be included within the limits of said corporation in the manner provided in Article 974 of the Revised Civil Statutes of the State of Texas.

As an alternative method of enlarging or extending the corporate boundaries, the city commission shall have the power by ordinance to provide for the alteration and extension of said boundary limits, and the annexation of additional territory lying adjacent to the city, with or without the consent of the territory and the inhabitants annexed. Upon the introduction of any such ordinance in the city commission, it shall be published one time in the newspaper designated as the official newspaper of the City of Slaton; however, amendments may be incorporated into the proposed ordinance without the necessity of publishing said amendments and without the necessity of republication of said ordinance as amended. The proposed ordinance shall not thereafter be finally acted upon until at least thirty (30) days have elapsed after the publication thereof; and upon the final passage of any such ordinance, the boundary limits of the city shall thereafter be as fixed in such ordinance, and when any additional territory has been so annexed, same shall be a part of the City of Slaton, and the property situated therein shall bear its pro rata part of the taxes levied to the city, and inhabitants thereof shall be entitled to all the rights and privileges of all of the citizens and shall be bound by the acts, ordinances and resolutions of the city.
