The office of building official/inspector is hereby created.
The building official/inspector is to be appointed by the city council.

It shall be the duty of the building official/inspector to enforce
the provisions of the codes of the city either individually or acting
by and through duly authorized representatives. He or she shall be
responsible for making inspections, issuing licenses and permits,
administering examinations and performing all other functions of the
office as prescribed in these codes or by administrative order. He
or she shall keep complete records of all permits issued, inspections
made and other official work performed in accordance with the provisions
of this code.

The building inspector shall be compensated from the general
fund of the city by whatever arrangement the city council deems to
be in the best interest of the city.
