As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
FARM MANAGEMENT UNIT
A parcel or parcels of land, either contiguous or noncontiguous, owned or rented by the operator of a farm stand, or in which the operator of the farm stand otherwise has an interest, together with agricultural or horticultural buildings, structures and facilities, producing agricultural or horticultural products, and operated as a single enterprise within the State of New Jersey.
FARM STAND
A retail farm market, no greater than 500 square feet, which goods consist of not less than 100% of products from the farm management unit, operated from temporary buildings or structures.
GOODS
Agricultural or horticultural products sold at a farm stand.
No person shall operate a farm stand without first having applied for and obtained from the Township a zoning permit therefor as hereinafter provided.
A. 
Each applicant seeking a permit under this chapter shall make a written application on a form supplied by the Township Zoning Officer, setting forth, but not limited to:
(1) 
The full name, residence and post office address of the applicant;
(2) 
The exact location of the farm management unit and the property upon which a farm stand is proposed, including both the street address and the block and lot number as shown on the tax map of the Township, and including proof, acceptable to the Township Zoning Officer, that the operator of the farm stand owns or rents the farm management unit, or a description of the operator interest in same;
(3) 
A description of the buildings and structures existing and proposed on the property, including the size, type, and construction;
(4) 
A description of vehicle parking spaces and facilities available for public use, including number of and size, and the description of the manner in which vehicles will access to and from any adjacent public road or street, including provisions for an adequate turnaround area to prevent vehicles from backing out onto any public street;
(5) 
The name and address of the owner of the property, if different than the applicant;
(6) 
The name or names of the person or persons on the property upon whom process may be served; and
(7) 
Details of any signs proposed.
B. 
Any change in any of the information set forth in the application during the term of the permit shall be communicated by the owner in writing to the Township Zoning Officer within seven days of the change.
The Township Zoning Officer shall forward a copy of any application submitted in accordance with § 67-3 to the Township Police Department, Township Manager, Township Fire Inspector, and/or Township Construction Code Official, who shall inspect the property to determine whether or not the property complies with all applicable health, fire code, and local regulations and statutes, including adequate parking and access, ingress and egress from any adjacent public road or street. If the property does not comply, said officials shall attach to the application a written list of violations and return the same to the Township Zoning Officer, who shall in turn forward said findings to the applicant. If the property does comply, said officials shall issue their approval. Thereupon, if the applicant has complied with all other permitting provisions set forth in § 67-3, the Township Zoning Officer shall issue a permit in accordance with the terms and conditions of this chapter.
All permits issued under the provisions of this chapter shall be for a term of one year commencing on January 1 and expiring on December 31 of the year of their issuance.
A. 
The annual fee for a permit under this chapter shall be as set forth in Chapter 71 of the Code of the Township of Medford.
B. 
Permit fees shall not be prorated, regardless of the date on which such permit may be issued.

One hundred percent of all goods sold at a farm stand shall consist of products from the farm management unit; however, fruit, vegetables and produce may be sold, provided they are grown in the State of New Jersey or any state that borders the State of New Jersey.
Farm stands shall be accompanied by a paved, gravel and/or grassed area for customer parking that can accommodate not less than three vehicles, which parking area shall be located in such a location as to facilitate the safe flow of traffic. There shall be adequate and safe access, ingress and egress from any adjacent public road or street, including provisions for an adequate turnaround area to prevent vehicles from backing out onto any public street.
Farm stands may only be located along state highways, arterial roads and major collector roads as designated in the Medford Township Development Regulations, § 528.A.11.
Not more than two signs shall be permitted in connection with the use or operation of any farm stand, which signs shall be temporary in nature, may be used to advertise products for sale at the farm stand, and which shall not exceed four square feet in area per sign.
