There is hereby established a council on aging consisting of
11 citizens of the town appointed by the board of selectmen for terms
not to exceed four years for any member. Such terms shall be staggered
so that not more than three appointments shall be made in any one
calendar year. Members may be appointed for consecutive terms.

The duties of the council on aging shall be to:
(a) Identify
the total needs of the community's elderly population.
(b) Educate
the community and enlist support and participation of all citizens
concerning these needs.
(c) Design,
promote, or implement services to fill these needs, or coordinate
present existing services in the community.
(d) Promote
and support any other programs that are designed to assist elderly
programs in the community.

The council on aging shall cooperate with the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts Office of Elder Affairs.

The council on aging shall be cognizant of all state and federal
legislation concerning funding, information exchange, and program
planning which exist for better community programming for the elderly.

The council on aging shall give an annual report to the board
of selectmen with a copy of that report directed to the Commonwealth
of Massachusetts Office of Elder Affairs.
